The player stakes once and then calls: sun or moon. Every call that lands doubles what the round is worth. One that misses ends it at nothing. The streak can be banked at any point after the first call has landed — before that there is nothing to bank.
The side you name changes the show, never the odds.
A round runs until it is banked, until a call misses, or until it reaches the limit set for it. That limit moves with the stake: a larger stake reaches fewer calls, because the payout has to stay inside the table maximum. A player going for the top of the ladder is therefore going for it with a small stake, which is the honest version of the trade and is shown as such.
